    60th PRIMETIME EMMY AWARD NOMINATION  
    July 15, 2008.     The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has nominated  Les Paul - Chasing Sound!  for a 2008 Primetime EMMY AWARD for Outstanding Sound Editing for Nonfiction Programming.  The awards will be telecast Sunday, September 21, 2008 on ABC.

    The HUGO TELEVISION AWARDS   "Silver HUGO  Award Winner"  
    April 17, 2008 Les Paul - Chasing Sound !  is named a "Silver HUGO  Award Winner" by the 44th Chicago International Film Festival.  The film was expressly chosen from a long list of submissions in the category: Documentary - History/Biography and honored in Chicago at the 2008 HUGO Television Awards on Thursday, May 1, 2008.  The Hugo Television Awards honor the best and most innovative in television production from around the world and pay tribute to the individuals and companies that have been industry leaders through the years.  The most influential and creative members of the international television industry are recognized as leaders in their field.    Visit site:  The HUGO Television Awards  
 
 
    The TELLY AWARDS   "Silver TELLY  Award Winner"  
    March 17, 2008 Les Paul - Chasing Sound !  is named a "Silver Telly Award Winner" by the 29th annual Telly Awards, it's top honor.  Founded in 1978 the Telly Awards is the premiere award honoring outstanding television programs as well as the finest film and video productions.  A widely known and highly respected national and international competition, the The Telly Awards annually showcases the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, and cable operators in the world.  
 
 
    ASCAP DEEMS TAYLOR AWARD     "Best Music Documentary on Broadcast Television"  
   

 

 

December 13, 2007.   The makers of  Les Paul - Chasing Sound !  received the 2007 ASCAP Deems Taylor Award in recognition for excellence in presenting music in a television broadcast.  The Awards were established by ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, & Publishers) in memory of former ASCAP president  and composer/critic/commentator Deems Taylor and are presented annually to American authors and journalists whose books, articles, liner notes - and documentary films - on the subject of music are selected for their excellence.  Chasing Sound was honored at the awards ceremony and a special reception on Thursday, December 13th, 2007 at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City.     U.K HOME VIDEO RELEASE by EAGLE VISION  
   

 

May 15, 2008.    British-based  Eagle Rock Entertainment  has acquired home video distribution rights for Les Paul Chasing Sound!  and will be releasing the DVD in U.K. territories under its Eagle Vision label.   DVD release is scheduled for September 29, 2008.

 

 
     
    JAPAN RELEASE  
    May 15, 2008.  Distribution of Les Paul Chasing Sound!  in Japan is made through arrangement with Pony Canyon, release on television and home video is planned for August, 2008.  Stay tuned for additional DVD release information.  
     
    LES PAUL AWARDED THE 2007 NATIONAL MEDAL OF THE ARTS  
    November 15, 2007.   President and Mrs. Bush today presented Les Paul with the National Medal of the Arts in recognition of his lifetime of indelible contributions to the American artistic landscape.  The National Medal is America's highest honor for achievement in the arts.  Today in a special White House ceremony, the White House Council on the Arts in cooperation with the National Endowment of the Arts cited Les Paul for his innovation as a musician, his pioneering designs of the electric guitar, and his groundbreaking recording techniques that have influenced the development of American jazz, blues, pop music and inspired generations of guitarists.  Of course, visiting the White House is nothing new to Les, who first played it in 1939 for President Roosevelt.

    MILWAUKEE FILM SCREENING  
    May 9, 2007.    Les Paul Chasing Sound!  enjoyed a one-night-only  PREMIERE  showing on Wednesday, May 9 2007 at the historic Landmark Downer Theater in downtown Milwaukee, a few miles from Les Paul's hometown.  Hosted by the Milwaukee Athletic Club, the Pabst Brewing Company, and Sprecher Brewing Company, this first showing of the long-awaited PBS documentary was attended by the filmmakers and Les Paul himself.
